Article 54 — Representation and Accretion
- Representation occurs when the descendants of a predeceased heir step into the place and degree of that heir and receive the share that the heir would have received.
- Representation operates without limit of degree in the direct descending line.
- Where a co-heir renounces or is unworthy, and representation does not apply, the renounced or forfeited share accretes to the other heirs of the same order in proportion to their shares.
