Article 9 — Acquisition by Adoption

1. 1.

   A minor child who is fully adopted by a Kaharagian national in accordance with the laws of the State, or in accordance with the laws of a foreign jurisdiction recognised by the State, acquires Kaharagian nationality upon sovereign decree.

2. 2.

   The adoptive parent shall apply in accordance with Article 7(2). The application shall include proof of the adoption and of the nationality of the adoptive parent.

3. 3.

   Acquisition by adoption takes effect from the date of the sovereign decree, unless the decree specifies otherwise.

4. 4.

   A child adopted under a form of adoption that does not create a full parent-child relationship under Kaharagian law does not acquire nationality by virtue of this Article, but may be admitted by grant under Article 11.
