Article 4 — The Chancellor

1. 1.

   There shall be a Chancellor of the Realm, appointed by the Sovereign by Letters Patent, who shall be the principal officer of the Chancellery and shall have charge of its administration.

2. 2.

   The Chancellor shall, before entering upon office, take and subscribe an oath in the form prescribed by the Sovereign, before His Royal Highness or before such person as His Royal Highness may designate.

3. 3.

   The Chancellor holds office during the pleasure of the Sovereign and may be removed only by Letters Patent under the Sign Manual.
